MEET JUAN                                 Progress for all of Holyoke

My grandmother came to Holyoke in the 1950’s looking to make a better life for her family. I remember her often trying to instill in me the understanding that I could be anything I set my mind to, and that she expected me to try to make the best of my life. I live my life always with those words of my grandmother in mind.

During my 20’s, I went through some difficult personal struggles. I was not living up to the potential I had and I was not making my family proud. I made a decision to go to school and starting getting my life in order. I graduated with honors from Holyoke Community College and UMass Amherst where I earned degrees in Communications.

In recent years I bought a house in Holyoke, I got married, and I have become connected to my community in ways that have opened my eyes up to the fact that my city needs more people who care.

I am in this race because there are many good people in Holyoke who are underrepresented and need a voice. As I have been speaking with voters, people want somebody that they can trust as their neighbor and respect as their representative. That is exactly what I intend to be when I am elected this November.
